His eyes are as green as a fresh-pickled toad...

Do you love Harry Potter? Have you ever wondered where the Sorting Hat might place you? Would you like a chance to hang out with other fans of the series in an intelligent, (mostly) level-headed community?

Well, my friends, have I got news for you.

[livejournal.com profile] hogwarts_elite, the best-known name in LJ sorting and fan communities, is back for a final term! Unless you're a fellow H_E alum (correction: student again!), you can't imagine how very excited this makes me! H_E is the best of the best when it comes to sorting communities. I joined up over 4 years ago, and the community has provided me with so many friends, so many chances to be creative, and so much fun! If you are a Harry Potter fan, I would highly recommend that you apply to be sorted in this FINAL term. Even just one term can provide you with memories to last a lifetime!

The community is officially re-opening on July 31, Harry's birthday. Between then and now, you should definitely fill out the sorting application (available on the main community) and drop it into the queue. I would love a chance to sort you - and maybe you'll end up Ravenclaw with me!

If you do choose to apply, I would ask you a teensy-tinesy favor... please drop the following banner at the bottom of your application and say that [livejournal.com profile] applespicy sent you! This will earn me a few points and make me feel really cool :)

Because I'm a giver, I also provided a text box with all the necessary HTML below the banner. All you need to do is copy and paste!

I used to be a member but I left like a term before it closed, so I never had a chance to join back or whatever. :|a Should I just count myself as a new member, or do the resorting app....? What do you think?

[identity profile] applespicy.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
I think it depends on what you want to do. I believe Noah has said that all previous members are welcome back, even if they left the community. If you want to go back to your previous house (which was Ravenclaw, wasn't it?) then I suppose you can just rejoin, but you can be resorted if you'd like :) Either way, you'll have to go register your wand at ministry_elite so the head honchos will know you're coming back.

Well I'm a stamping/sorting fiend, so of course I am going to want to do the application, haha (I like to know how I've changed). I just wondered if I had to go through the rigamaroll of rejoining 'Claw then putting in a resort application, or if the new member app would be best. I suppose I could just ask them though, lol. XD

[identity profile] applespicy.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, asking would probably be the best thing - I'm not sure which way they'd prefer it!

I keep debating whether I want to do a resort when I go back, or if I just want to wander back in with the Lions.

...I'm totally kidding myself, I'm addicted to sorting, haha.

[identity profile] applespicy.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha! I thought about doing resorting because I ALSO love to be sorted, but I love Ravenclaw too much to potentially go somewhere else.

Does it require a pretty decent time commitment?

[identity profile] applespicy.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at all - it really depends on how involved you want to be. You could spend hours doing contests and participating in discussions if you want to, but you might also want to just pop in for sorting and major competitions (like Hogsmeade). Some people just come in to get sorting and then don't participate after that... it's all up to you!

I always wanted to be sorted, but was intimidated by the implied time commitment and much more hardcore fans than I am. I never knew it closed, though. The idea that I may never get the chance if I don't do it now is making me think about it again. How long is a term?

I think a term goes for about 3 months. It's not really bad for time, honestly - it just depends on how involved you want to be.
